Digital electronics is a branch of electronics that studies and uses devices and circuits that operate with digital signals, which are discrete values of voltage or current representing binary digits (0 or 1). Digital electronics is different from analog electronics, which deals with continuous signals that can vary in amplitude and frequency. Digital electronics is the basis for many applications such as computers, smartphones, digital watches, rocket science, and quantum computing. Digital electronics involves the use of components such as transistors, diodes, microcontrollers, logic gates, flip-flops, and registers to perform arithmetic, logic, and memory operations on digital signals.
